10 Year Old Boy Dies Over A Driveway Dispute

A dispute about using a shared driveway in a Queens neighborhood left a 57-year-old father, Albert Wallace, comforting his 10-year-old son as he lay dying from a gunshot wound. The NY Post reports that Wallace was left “heartbroken” after losing his son.

Wallace went to his sister’s house yesterday after a beach trip close by to allow his son to play with Wallace’s nephew’s children that are around the same age. Wallace said, “It’s been rough on the kids, the pandemic. My nephew call [sic] my son’s cell. I say we are on Beach 13th Street, and he says he is going to bring his two daughters down.”

Wallace said, “Yesterday, playing with his cousins it was the best time for him, playing at the swings.”

Wallace commented he and his sister were in her basement while the incident occurred. Wallace said that he believes the motive of the shooting had nothing to do with his son Justin but rather a feud between neighbors. Albert Wallace told the NY Post that his sister and her neighbor have fought for years over the use of the shared driveway.

The feud between the neighbors became deadly Saturday after Wallace’s nephew parked his car in the driveway blocking the neighbor from pulling in.

The report says, “Law-enforcement sources confirmed the suspected shooting motive to The Post.”

Wallace said, “What happened was my nephew didn’t move the car; he was unloading it and upset the [neighbor].” He said his “nephew was going inside when the guy came running around” and fired at his nephew. “My nephew was opening the door, my son was inside the door, and he got shot,” said the grieving Wallace.

Wallace’s nephew was struck in the shoulder, but the bullet went through and, according to Wallace, hit Justin in the stomach. Law enforcement reportedly recovered eight .9mm bullet casings from the scene. The suspect allegedly drove away and is still missing.

The report described Wallace with tears in his eyes as he spoke about the moment the emergency crew arrived at the scene. Wallace said, “What hurt me was to see these EMT guys on my son like he is dead meat, dead cow. Once they put him into the ambulance, they started to pump his chest, so I knew something wasn’t right.”

“The rage I have in me when I was at the hospital! When I see [Justin], I see me. No! No! No! I know I have to live with this the rest of my life.” He said, “I come home, I touch his clothes. I yell, ‘No!’ I say, ‘Oh, my God!’ ”

Albert Wallace said when people see his son, they “love him.” He said Justin “is smart. He likes math, he like the computer, he counts into the millions. The teachers say that he is a brilliant mathematician.”
