Social media influencer Andrew Tate has reportedly been arrested in his country of residence, Romania. The reason may not come as a surprise, given the misogynistic reasons he was kicked off of various social media platforms this year.
The 36-year-old former kickboxer and his brother Tristan were arrested on human trafficking charges, after authorities received a complaint that two women, one with American citizenship and the other with Romanian citizenship, were being held against their will at their home in April. The women claim they were subjected to physical violence and mental coercion.

According to the Romanian newspaper Gândul, they were arrested in Bucharest, to be held for 24 hours.
A former policewoman was also arrested and accused of involvement in the alleged trafficking.
Police suspect that the Tates have formed an organized crime ring, sexually exploiting women “by forcing them to perform pornographic demonstrations for the purpose of producing and disseminating through social media platforms.”
Various weapons were found during the raid, including several guns, a knuckle duster, hatchet and swords of varying lengths, in addition to stacks of money.
Tate has been more well-known online for his remarks on women, including one in which he implied that they “bear some responsibility” for being assaulted, for which he was suspended from Twitter.
He is a self described misogynist, saying in a YouTube clip:
“I will state right now that I am absolutely sexist, I am absolutely a misogynist and I have f*** you money so I’ll say what I want. […] There is no way you can be rooted in reality and not be sexist.”
