Biden Administration Using Discreet Overnight Flights to Transport Underage Migrants

Planeloads of juvenile migrants are reportedly being transported into suburban New York by the Biden administration to relocate them around the area discreetly. According to the New York Post, the charter planes are coming from Texas, where the ongoing border crisis has overloaded local immigration officers, and they have been in operation since at least August.

Recently, New York Post reporters witnessed two flights land at Westchester County Airport, in which the majority of passengers appeared to be kids and teenagers, with a small number of males in their twenties. Westchester County officers watched as passengers rushed from planes to buses after flights arrived late on Wednesday and Friday evenings last week. Later some of the migrants were spotted in New Jersey, meeting up with family or sponsors, or being handed off to a Long Island residential facility.

An analysis of internet flight-tracking data showed that approximately 2,000 migrants apprehended after illegally crossing into the United States from Mexico had landed at the White Plains airport on 21 flights since August 8, with some flights arriving between midnight and 6:30 am, when a voluntary curfew is in effect.

Records show two flights from Houston landing at 2:13 am, and 4:29 am on August 20. The operation’s secrecy raises questions about how the White House is coping with the influx of unaccompanied kids.

According to the most current data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 37,805 unaccompanied children were captured entering the U.S. from Mexico in July and August alone, often after being abandoned by professional traffickers known as “coyotes.”

The juvenile migrants reportedly arrive with backpacks and are taken to destinations like The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, upstate Newburgh. They are also taken to Bridgeport and Danbury, Connecticut. Last week, a bus departed the Westchester airport and drove at speeds of more than 75 mph along the Hutchinson River Parkway, which is closed to commercial vehicles, before heading across the Throgs Neck Bridge and stopping in Syosset, Long Island, at the MercyFirst campus.

The MercyFirst website states that they address “the emotional and physical needs of children and adolescents who are the victims of societal problems.”

They also say, “The Agency provides residential services to youth on our campus in Syosset and in our community-based group homes. We also care for children in private regular and therapeutic foster homes in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. Our Family Support Services programs works to help families with children at-risk of entering foster care due to abuse and neglect.” The organization has a program dedicated specifically to immigrant youth and families.

The Post also reported a similar situation in Jacksonville, Florida, where several of the planes from Texas landed before going on to Westchester. They witnessed a Boeing 737-700 land just after 10 pm at Jacksonville International Airport. Once again, local officers watched as a group of 10 to 15 migrants wearing white baseball hats and carrying duffel bags disembarked from the plane and boarded a charter bus that took them to Twin Oaks Academy, a juvenile detention center in the Apalachicola National Forest outside Tallahassee.

The White House maintains that the flights only carry children and teens. The U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) stated, “It is our legal responsibility to safely care for unaccompanied children until they can be swiftly unified with a parent or a vetted sponsor.”

HHS spokesman Jorge Silva said, “Our Office of Refugee Resettlement facilitates travel for the children in its custody to their family or sponsors across the country.”
