Biden Pivots From Eco-Friendly Stance and Ask For Probe of “Illegal Conduct” on Gas Prices

Gas prices have been continuously rising since President Biden took office, even more so because the Biden administration did little to address the multiple pipeline hacks that caused skyrocketing energy costs. Now, President Biden is shifting his stance and asking the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) director to investigate whether oil companies are illegally raising prices as American consumers suffer.

On Wednesday, Biden wrote a letter to FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan.

Biden Letter to FTC

Biden wrote:

“The Federal Trade Commission has authority to consider whether illegal conduct is costing families at the pump. I believe you should do so immediately.”

Energy prices have risen by a staggering 30% in the last year, with gasoline prices increasing by over 50%. According to AAA, a gallon of gas cost $3.42 nationwide on Tuesday, up from $2.11 a year earlier.

Biden and his alt-left colleagues have been vocal advocates for cutting all connections with oil and gas companies in the United States. Recently the United States pledged to the UN to impose several limits to reduce carbon and daily natural fuel by 2030.

To add insult to injury, In an appearance at the 2021 Social Wealth Seminar (SWS) held by the Jain Family Institute, Omarova admitted that the government needed to bankrupt entire energy sectors in order to implement top-down climate change policies.

After months of capitulating to the climate change crowd, the Biden administration is now attempting to play damage control by blaming the oil and gas firms for higher gas prices.

In a letter to Khan, Biden said:

“I do not accept hard-working Americans paying more for gas because of anti-competitive or otherwise potentially illegal conduct. I therefore ask that the Commission further examine what is happening with oil and gas markets, and that you bring all of the Commission’s tools to bear if you uncover any wrongdoing.”

Khan has agreed to conduct the investigation, stating that regulators will look into any “collusive” or otherwise unlawful acts impacting gas pricing. As Biden’s presidential approval rating continues to plummet, it is clear that his administration is doing everything in its power to keep things under control until his term is completed.
