Bill Gates Warns of Future Biological Terror Attack and Praises Strict Lockdowns

Bill Gates has been making waves across headlines after he warned of a future smallpox terrorist attack during Wednesday’s interview at the Policy Exchange.

In the interview with the chair of the Health Select Committee, Jeremy Hunt, Gates acknowledged that the COVID vaccines didn’t accomplish the mission. He fears that the world is vulnerable to another pandemic — unless countries drop tens of billions of dollars to prevent it.

Gates brought up his 2015 Ted Talk, pointing out that he’d almost predicted the current pandemic saying, “Sadly, that was a better forecast of what could happen than anyone would have wished for.”

He also applauded Australia and New Zealand’s handling of the pandemic, opining them as the only countries that handled it competently.

“We got vaccines that help you with your health, but they only slightly reduced the transmissions. We need a new way of doing the vaccines.

…we didn’t get the diagnostics up and running in order to achieve what at least Australia, New Zealand showed — that competent management could keep the death rate down pretty dramatically.”

Australia and New Zealand kept some of the strictest lockdowns on the planets, often not letting their residents leave their homes for months. There were several points that citizens were not permitted to leave for even the necessities, like groceries.

Gates believes that if tens of billions of dollars were invested in research and development, the world would be ready for another pandemic. He claims that the U.S. and the U.K. will be part of this new pandemic task force he wants to create, providing tens of billions of dollars in funds.

He said, “It’ll take probably about a billion a year for a pandemic Task Force at the WHO level, which is doing the surveillance and actually doing what I call ‘germ games’ where you practice.”

As if it is a fun game for him to play, he continues:

“You say, OK, what if a bioterrorist brought smallpox to 10 airports? You know, how would the world respond to that? There’s naturally-caused epidemics and bioterrorism-caused epidemics that could even be way worse than what we experienced today.”

According to the CDC, however, smallpox has been eradicated for some time and is no longer naturally occurring. Gates’ statement alludes that someone either has current possession of smallpox or is capable of creating it. Either is a terrifying thought.

Gates warned that naturally-caused and bioterrorism-caused epidemics could be significantly worse than what the world has already experienced.

He attempted to put a cherry on top by pointing out the medical advances from such an investment. He wants to make vaccines cheap, have bigger factories and eradicate the common cold and flu.

His high hopes include “making vaccines just a little patch you put on your arm, things that will be incredibly beneficial even in the years when we don’t have pandemics.”
