BREAKING: Fully Vaccinated EU and UK Travelers Can Visit America Again Come November

On Monday, September 20, the US announced it would be lifting the European travel ban come November. The US travel ban has been in place since March 2020.

All foreign travelers entering the US will need to be fully vaccinated and provide a negative Covid-19 within 72 hours of travel. EU Ambassador to the U.S. Stavros Lambrinidis tweeted,“ Travel ban lifted! Vaccinated, pre-flight tested Europeans will again be able to travel to the US from November, just as vaccinated Americans are today allowed to travel to the EU.”

According to The Guardian, this will affect the 26 Schengen countries, the UK, Ireland, China, Iran, Brazil, South Africa, and India.

Jeff Zients, the head of the White House’s Covid-19 response team, said, “This new international travel system follows the science to keep Americans and international air travel safe…By requiring foreign nationals to be fully vaccinated to fly to the United States and in implementing additional strict safety protocols, we will protect Americans here at home and enhance the safety of international travel.” The CDC will be responsible for determining which Covid-19 vaccines are acceptable.

The CDC will implement a contact tracing order which requires airlines to gather travelers’ email and phone numbers. The CDC and local health officials can then contact individuals if someone around them has been exposed to Covid-19.

Under the new order, in-bound travelers will not have to quarantine upon arrival. The UK and EU have already allowed vaccinated Americans into their countries without quarantine requirements. British Prime Minister Borris Johnson tweeted, “It’s a fantastic boost for business and trade, and great that family and friends on both sides of the pond can be reunited once again.”
