BREAKING: NY Supreme Court Temporarily Suspends Rudy Giuliani From Practicing Law

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is also former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, has been suspended from practicing law in New York, according to a ruling issued on Thursday.

The Supreme Court of the State of New York released documents on Thursday claiming that Giuliani made “demonstrably false and misleading” statements about the 2020 elections. All 5 of the ruling judges were Democrats, and current NY Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed three out of the five judges.

“For the reasons that follow, we conclude that there is uncontroverted evidence that respondent communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020. These false statements were made to improperly bolster respondent’s narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client.”

Despite Trump being acquitted by the Senate for incitement of the Capitol riot in a final vote of 57-43, the disciplinary panel stated Giuliani election claims played a key factor in helping incite the storming of the Capitol in January.

The suspension is only temporary and may be lifted once the outcome of a formal disciplinary hearing is established.

Several conservatives argue that Giuliani has endured immense violation of his rights over the past few months following the new suspension. DOJ agents seized the former New York City mayor’s electronic devices in April, hoping to learn more about any dealings he may have had with Ukraine.

A statement was issued by Giuliani’s lawyers John Leventhal and Barry Kamins of Aidala Bertuna and Kamins, saying:

“We are disappointed with the Appellate Division, First Department’s decision suspending Mayor Giuliani prior to being afforded a hearing on the issues that are alleged. This is unprecedented as we believe that our client does not pose a present danger to the public interest. We believe that once the issues are fully explored at a hearing, Mr. Giuliani will be reinstated as a valued member of the legal profession that he has served so well in his many capacities for so many years.”

Giuliani is scheduled to appear in court in Washington, DC, on Thursday for a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems, which is suing him and others for statements they made alleging election fraud.

Separately, his son Andrew Giuliani, a candidate for governor, voiced his frustration on Twitter in a statement.
