Chinese Police Spying on Chinese nationals and Americans in U.S.

The National Police Association (NPA) recently reported on Communist China establishing police departments on U.S. soil in New York City. Now, according to the New York Post, a New Yorker is revealing “what it’s like to be spied on by Chinese police in US.”

The Post reported, “When Yan Xiong, a pastor and Iraqi war veteran, lost his bid for Congress in a Democratic primary earlier this year, he blamed one source: Chinese Communist Party police operating in New York City.”

Yan explained he could not raise money for his run “because they [CCP police] pressured everyone in the community to stay away from me to sink my campaign. And they succeeded.” He said he had to use his own money.

He also said “unregistered Chinese agents” tried to smear him “by hiring a prostitute to ruin his political career….” According to a DOJ indictment, they also threatened to beat him so he could not continue the race.

The DOJ reported Yan was one victim of “Operation Fox Hunt…,” a CCP program initiated in 2014 to “forcibly repatriate hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals around the world.”

The NPA reported these “operations have resulted in 230,000 Chinese nationals being ‘persuaded to return’ to China ‘voluntarily’ over the last year to face criminal prosecution.”

The Post said Yan, 58, is wanted in China. He was one of the pro-democracy student activists, standing against tanks during protests in Tiananmen Square in 1989. The U.S. granted him political asylum in 1992. Despite joining the U.S. military and serving in Iraq in 2004-2005, the CCP still wants him.

“Yan said he has long been a target of Chinese government operatives working from police stations set up in Manhattan’s Chinatown.”

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland referred to the federal charges against 13 suspected CCP police operatives as “significant security cases.”

The DOJ indictment also details how the CCP in the U.S. has “hired private investigators and even New York City cops to dig up information on their targets and threaten them.”
