Project Veritas (PV) is on a mission to #ExposeCNN. The group’s reporting is now responsible for (former) CNN producer Rick Saleeby being investigated for possible crimes involving minor victims.
CNN announced Rick Saleeby, until recently a senior producer for Jake Tapper’s ‘The Lead,’ had resigned shortly after PV publicly reported the allegations against him.
Rick Saleeby ignored questions from PV reporters after leaving the Fairfax County court hearing where a judge placed a two-year Protective Order against Saleeby for his former fiance and her children.
An informant, Janine Bonanni, came to PV with messages, videos, and pictures of Saleeby’s apparent desire to have sexual interactions with his fiance’s underage daughter after she said the information made her feel “disgusted.”
Bonanni recorded a man she said is Rick Saleeby describing, in detail, his fantasy of engaging in sexual activity with the minor. She said it was important to turn this information into a news organization because a producer at CNN is a powerful person, and “these people with power seem to get away with it.”
Fairfax County Police Department confirmed to Fox News that a criminal investigation into the “serious allegations involving potential juvenile victims” against Rick Saleeby is being conducted by the department’s Child Exploitation Squad of the Major Crimes Bureau.
The police told Fox that PV was in contact with the department and had helped the investigation. Fairfax County PD confirmed it removed various items from Saleeby’s home in Virginia and spoke with any alleged victims.
Saleeby’s attorney declined to comment on the pending investigation.
Fairfax County Police Department Public Affairs Director Anthony Guglielmi answered PV’s request for comment with the following statement:
“The Fairfax County Police Department has launched an investigation into serious allegations involving potential juvenile victims. Detectives assigned to the Child Exploitation Squad of the Major Crimes Bureau are leading the investigation. While we will eventually be transparent about our findings, safeguarding the personal privacy and safety of victims and witnesses as well as maintaining the integrity of our criminal investigation are of paramount importance.
At this time, we are not in a position to provide additional detail on the scope or nature of this investigation.”
Rick Saleeby’s ex-fiance wrote a letter to Project Veritas thanking them for their reporting and protecting her family from the potential for harm. She wrote in part, “I wanted to reach out to sincerely thank you again. I am very grateful toward you guys and everything you’ve done for me and my children. Our world has just been completely flipped upside down, but none of that matters. We are all safe.”
