DeSantis Agrees to Sign Bill Protecting Women’s Sports

Florida Gov. DeSantis proved once again that he would protect his citizens against the leftist ideology that seeks to destroy the fabric of society by agreeing to sign a bill that protects women’s sports. Florida’s state congress passed a bill banning transgender females (male to female transition) from competing in women’s sports at the high school and college levels.

Gov. DeSantis spoke to Fox News’s Laura Ingraham on Thursday – along with Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves – in a special “Ingraham Angle Town Hall” called the “Red State Trailblazers.” The host spoke to the Republican governors about a wide range of topics, including freedom, GDP, and the fight for traditional values.

Laura Ingraham introduced the topic by highlighting Mississippi Gov. Reeves as “the first start to enact legislation to protect female athletes” when he signed legislation on the issue back in March. Gov. Reeves admits that “biological males playing in female-only sports” is an issue that he is “passionate about” due to his three daughters being heavily into competitive sports. He said biological males “should not be allowed to be able to compete with them for opportunities.”

After Gov. Reeves said he was honored to sign the bill, Ingraham asked Gov. DeSantis if “a bill of a similar nature is about to cross your desk; are you going to sign it?”

Gov. DeSantis didn’t hesitate before responding, saying, “Oh yes. We’re going to protect our girls.” The crowd’s applause stopped the Florida governor as he smiled at the recognition. Gov. DeSantis continued saying, “I have a four-year-old daughter and a one-year-old daughter, and they’re very athletic. And we want to have opportunities for our girls.”

Gov. DeSantis says he would sign the bill because girls “deserve an even playing field.” He said he “looks forward” to joining Mississippi Gov. Reeves and “being able to sign that [bill] into law.”

Florida Senate bill 1028 with the added “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” sets out to deal with the concerns over charter schools and now will also define eligibility in sports. Florida Senator Kelli Stargel said the bill is “not meant to be hurtful. It’s not meant to be discriminating. It’s not meant to attack any group.”

She says, “this is about sports and having competitive advantage and having the ability to compete.”

The NCAA put out a statement on the transgender athlete issue claiming: “Inclusion and fairness can coexist for all student-athletes including transgender athletes. We’re committed to ensuring that NCAA championships are open for all who earn the right to compete in them.”

The NCAA wants to dictate that it is fair to have biological males compete in feats of strength and endurance against females. There is no amount of woke indoctrination that can change the biological differences between a man and a woman.

It is not showing someone kindness by allowing them to abuse another person for their egotistical gain. Laura Ingraham asked in the interview, “How is it fair to have biological males compete against women athletes?” Iowa Gov. Reynolds responded with the only correct response: “It’s not fair.”
