Florida: A Template for How to Effectively Handle Pandemic and Liberty

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis seems to have gotten it right with his response to the CCP virus. According to the Gateway Pundit, “Florida now owns the LOWEST rate of Covid-19 cases in the nation on a per capita basis.”

“Ignoring ‘expert advice’ to place harsh restrictions on the state’s population, DeSantis’s response has resulted in the numbers that beat other states that have imposed mask and vaccine mandates.”

New CDC data shows Florida is performing better than states like California and New York with autocratic decrees and states with “the highest vaccination rates in the country” like Vermont and Rhode Island.

Florida is decreasing in cases, while New York is more than doubling their case rates, and Delaware, where Joe Biden lives, is experiencing nearly four times per capita case rates.

This disparity is particularly striking when you consider Florida has operated with virtually no restrictions on individuals or businesses. The state accomplished this despite brutal and sustained mainstream media attacks, attempting to cast the governor’s efforts to keep life normal as somehow reprehensible.

For example, a TV ad, which backfired epically, attempted to emulate a horror movie trailer that called for Gov. DeSantis’ removal from office.

However, most conservatives, who were presumably supposed to be “horrified” by the effort, found it hilarious. Most of the ad’s points made to detract from the governor are things DeSantis supporters like best about him.

One clip shows DeSantis saying, “We trust people to make their own decisions in the state of Florida.” The governor’s supporters say, “Exactly!” That’s what they expect of their government at both the state and federal levels. It’s called individual liberty.

Governor DeSantis has become the standard-bearer for the resistance to the blue-led states’ Draconian efforts occurring for going on two years.

Other governors cast in a similar mold, like Texas’ Greg Abbott and Kristi Noem in South Dakota, have also resisted inflicting restrictions on their residents, instead, like DeSantis, opting for respecting the people’s prerogative as adults to make their own individual choices.

Covid-19Updates.org is also touting Florida’s “milestone of reaching the lowest coronavirus case rate in the nation,” which, they say, is “highlighting the ‘overreach’ of vaccine mandates.”

In a press release, DeSantis said, “Without mandates or lockdowns, COVID-19 cases in Florida have decreased 90% since August. In addition to cases, hospitalizations have plummeted in our state.”

The governor added, “This has been accomplished by making monoclonal antibody treatments and vaccines widely available throughout our state while protecting Floridians from government overreach.”
