Google Headquarters Allows Employees To Return to The Office Without A Vaccine Mandate

Google has officially announced its employees will return to working in person in their flagship office. The news comes on the heels of rapidly dropping Covid-19 cases. Google’s home office is located in the San Francisco area. Google’s employees have not been in the physical office for almost two years.

Google employees were sent email communications stating:

“The company is lifting the testing requirement imposed in January, which applied even to vaccinated employees. In addition, Google is dropping its social distancing requirement and masks for vaccinated employees in most areas, noting that the few cities still requiring masks are likely to drop them soon.”

Employees do not have to be vaccinated, but those who are not will have to follow a strict protocol. This includes mandatory Covid-19 testing and wearing masks in most indoor settings.

Google is moving most employees to a hybrid model, where they will be expected to work in the office at least three days per week. The changes in operations follow several delays in returning, due to Covid surges and new variants.

Google also announced they will be bringing back some of their pre-pandemic perks. These include shuttle services, reopening their fitness centers, and re-opening their game and lounge rooms for employees.
