Governor Whitmer Broke Her Own Covid Rules Again

Michigan Governor Whitmer broke her own Covid rules again this week and was forced to issue yet another apology to her residents. The picture posted on social media showed Gov. Gretchen sitting – not socially distanced, not masking, and with more than six people in her group – at a restaurant.

Gretchen’s party pushed tables together to fit their thirteen-person group into the cozy corner, breaking the May 15 health ordinance her health department sent out. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services order says no more than six people can be seated together, and groups of patrons must be six feet apart.

Breitbart News got the weekend exclusive saying, “Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) hit the bar this weekend and violated her own coronavirus orders.” Whitmer was not the only one of her staff to break the Covid rules; her Chief Operations Officer, Tricia Foster, was also pictured at the Michigan State college bar.

Gov. Whitmer was outed by a quickly deleted Facebook post by her friend. The screenshot of the social media post reportedly said, “East Lansing and my ’90’s MSU people-the Landshark MSU is back open! It’s updated, even the jukebox, but I played some Dave for all of you. I can’t wait to see all of your faces during football season!”

Gov. Whitmer quickly came under fire as this isn’t the first time she ignored her own rules she claims will save lives. Executive Director of Michigan Freedom Fund Tori Sachs spoke to Breitbart to add to the growing criticism saying, “Now Whitmer has once again completely disregarded her own rules.”

Sachs said, “Whitmer orders rules she and her staff don’t follow themselves while Michiganders and businesses suffer.” She called for Gov. Whitmer to “end her restrictions immediately.” The governor didn’t.

Other reports out of Lansing, Michigan, claim that although Gov. Whitmer was allowed to sit together with her group, other groups were not afforded that luxury. The health department patrolled bar capacity to educate the patrons about capacity requirements. Ingham County, where Lansing is located, has a capacity limit of 50% occupancy or 125 people.

Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail claims to be a good Samaritan because rather than writing these bars and patrons a ticket for breaking the totalitarian health regulations, she “chose to give them a break.”

According to the Detroit News, Michigan’s governor plans to lift the outdoor event limits on June 1. The plan came after Republicans in the state legislature fought against Whitmer’s plan for permanent Covid rules for Michigan residents and businesses.

The report states, “In addition to lifting outdoor limits, Whitmer said indoor capacity controls also will rise to 50% for the month of June – affecting such events as weddings, funerals, and graduation parties.” Bars and restaurants will also be able to stay open past the 11 p.m. curfew starting June 1.

In the new order, the mask mandate for those who chose not to be vaccinated will remain. “We look at this as the last moment of this type of order,” said Whitmer.
