On Tuesday, Fox News Digital showed a video of John Kerry using his family’s private jet. Republican lawmakers were quick to call out Kerry for his hypocrisy against using fossil fuels. His private jet has emitted over 300 metric tons of carbon since January 2020. He has taken 48 trips since January 2021.
Kerry is a major proponent of attempting to force Americans to transition away from fossil fuels. Senator Josh Hawley stated, “Joe Biden launched his war on American energy on his first day in office, shutting down domestic energy production and making us reliant on our enemies. But while Americans are struggling to afford gas and being lectured about ‘transitioning’ their energy use, Biden’s cabinet is jetting around the world wasting the same fossil fuels they say they want to ban. Americans can see the hypocrisy and it’s insulting.”
In June, Kerry said that the “U.S. absolutely did not need” any more fossil fuel drilling. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska tweeted in response to the hypocrisy, “Smug, hypocritical, hammering middle-class families, and now this: John Kerry is one of the single biggest polluters & GHG emitters in the world.” He also called for Kerry’s resignation.
