Have Americans watching a debate ever witnessed such a “reverse mic-drop” as they did last night during the debate between Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul, and her Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin?

A reverse mic-drop is when, instead of the person speaking making a jaw-dropping comment, and then dropping the microphone, the person listening hears a comment so remarkably stupid he or she drops the mic.
Americans witnessed this phenomenon last night when Hochul essentially wondered why Zeldin believes locking up criminals is so important to him. This was during a debate where crime was a top issue for New York voters fed up with the state’s lawlessness.
Zeldin said New Yorkers are “not being represented from this governor — who still, to this moment … hasn’t talked about locking up anyone committing any crimes.”
Hochul replied, “I don’t know why that’s so important to you.”
Zeldin could have dropped his mic right then and walked off stage with a win.
Townhall reported, “Hochul (D-NY) met to debate with… Zeldin (R-NY) on the one debate she agreed to, although Zeldin called for several more debates. Rep. Zeldin… referenced the rising crime in New York…. In her opening statement, Gov. Hochul tied crime to gun control, which she would keep doing this throughout the debate.”
RNC Research tweeted, “@leezeldin slams Democrat Kathy Hochul’s pro-criminal policies for wreaking havoc in New York. ‘We can continue with the status quo where they believe they haven’t passed enough pro-criminal laws’ or we can ‘make sure law-abiding New Yorkers are in charge of our streets again’”
GOP Comms Director Jesse Hunt tweeted, “Why are Dems in trouble in NY Gov? This attitude toward crime and safety.”
Townhall tweeted, about CCP virus “vax” for kids, Zeldin said, “Let me be clear to all of the parents who are out there: I will not mandate COVID vaccines for you kids, EVER.”
Polls seem to have Hochul and Zeldin in a “dead heat,” with Zeldin gaining momentum.
