LA Driver Who Killed Pregnant Woman and Five Others Charged with Manslaughter

The Los Angeles woman responsible for the fiery accident that took the lives of six people last Thursday, including a pregnant mother, her unborn child and infant son, was released from the hospital and is now in custody.

The incident was caught on video as Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, careened through a 35mph intersection at 100mph, blowing through a red light and taking out several other cars that immediately caught fire.

The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Slauson and La Brea Avenue in the afternoon. One car was torn in half while the fire ran ablaze.

The pregnant woman, Asherey Ryan, 23, was on her way to a prenatal appointment as she was 8.5 months pregnant. She was accompanied by her boyfriend, Reynold Lester, and her 11-month-old son, Alonzo.

Two others died and eight more were injured.

Linton is a traveling nurse with Kaiser Permanente’s West Los Angeles Medical Center. She was arrested Friday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

She is currently being held on $2 million bail after she was released from Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Sunday.

UPDATE: On Monday August 8, Linton was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of gross vehicular manslaughter.
