Merrick Garland Files Suit Against Texas Over Claims It Violated Section 2 Of The Voting Rights Act

In a press conference today, Merrick Garland announced Biden’s DOJ filed a lawsuit against Texas over its recent redistricting of the State’s Congressional map. Garland claimed that Texas violated the voting rights of black and Latino voters but did not offer any evidence that the state’s new Congressional map illegally prevents anyone from voting.

The DOJ bizarrely argued that allowing the Texas election law to go forward unchecked will disenfranchise minority voters, although Texas’ redistricting issue actually adds seats to the legislature. The suit asserted that Texas is “refusing to recognize the State’s growing minority electorate.”

Garland asked the Court to bar Texas from holding elections with the new Congressional maps and redraw the maps for the 2022 elections. Until 2013 the Democrats benefited from preclearance, which ran redistricting by some southern states through the federal government after repeated attempts to create laws that were allegedly aimed at stopping minorities from voting.

Now that the Supreme Court stripped the preclearance requirement out of the Voting Rights Act, Garland admits his lawsuit will face a more complicated challenge than in the past. Garland complained that dropping preclearance means the federal government doesn’t get a chance to look at redistricting maps before they go into effect, requiring the DOJ to “challenge every case individually.”

The suit alleges that Texas’ plans for redistricting are “an effort to strengthen the voting power of Anglo citizens while preserving the superficial appearance of Latino control.” Biden’s DOJ claims the new Congressional maps “surgically excised minority communities from the core of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex (DFW) by attaching them to heavily Anglo rural counties, some more than a hundred miles away.”

Texans saw this is just Biden’s DOJ attempting to appease Progressive activists. In fact, the Texas GOP-majority legislature created three new DEEP BLUE seats in blue districts – in Austin, Houston, and Dallas.

“The Department of Justice’s absurd lawsuit against our state is the Biden Administration’s latest ploy to control Texas voters,” wrote on the official Twitter account for the Texas Attorney General. “I am confident that our legislature’s redistricting decisions will be proven lawful, and this preposterous attempt to sway democracy will fail.”

The Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton retweeted his official Texas Attorney General Twitter account, claiming that he is “certain Texas will prevail.”

  1. To assume people that have a darker skin colour than white are less likely to have the brain power to acquire I.D. is RACIST pure and simple. Basic transactions require I.D. ask Texans or anyone in the country. Black skin people are no more stupid than white skin people it’s just that Biden thinks they are.
