New Poll Shows President Biden’s Worst Approval Rate to Date

In a recent CBS News/YouGov poll, President Joe Biden had his lowest overall job approval ratings yet. Just 42% of adults in the country gave Biden good ratings, down from 43% in February and March and well below the Democrat’s 62% job approval rating in March 2021. Of those polled, 58% indicated they disapprove of Biden’s performance as president.

The results showed 19% strongly approve, 23% slightly approve, 19% somewhat disapprove, and 39% strongly disapprove. The economy and inflation are major sources of displeasure, with 63% and 69% disapproval, respectively. Biden is also receiving widespread criticism for his handling of the “situation with Russia and Ukraine,” as well as immigration, climate change, and crime. However, a majority of respondents, approximately, 56% agreed that the local job markets were excellent.

The poll was conducted about seven months before the midterm elections, in which Republicans are largely anticipated to win at least one chamber of Congress. It was conducted between April 5 and 8 with a “nationally representative sample of 2,062 U.S. adult residents,” according to CBS News. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 points and was “weighted according to gender, age, race, and education based on the U.S. Census American Community Survey and Current Population Survey, as well as the 2020 presidential vote.”
