NRA Plans Legal Actions Against California DOJ for Gun Owner Data Breach

As part of its reporting on New York’s and California’s leftist, anti-gun Democrat-run government’s insanity over a Supreme Court gun/self-defense ruling that didn’t go their way, TTR broached the breach of the California Department of Justice’s (DOJ) gun owner database.

TTR wrote, “In an effort by California officials to improve ‘transparency and information sharing for firearms-related data,’ the state had created and published the ‘2022 Firearms Dashboard Portal.’”

Now, the CA DOJ has announced the database had suffered a “breach.” According to FOX News, the info included, “names, date of birth, gender, race, driver’s license number, addresses, and criminal history.”

What are the odds one of the most anti-gun/self-defense rights states in the nation would suffer a “data breach” of its CCW permit database, releasing the personal information of gun owners, including reserve cops and judges?

“Also among those who had their information leaked…” were some 244 judges and 420 reserve police officers from the LA County database. They and their families are obviously at serious risk because of this breach.

Now, the NRA is planning legal action against the CA DOJ, which Dan Reid, the NRA western regional director, exclusively told to Fox News Digital. Reid said California DOJ officials’ actions “are completely despicable and unacceptable. They have placed lives at risk, including vulnerable individuals with abusive exes and stalkers.”

“The California DOJ confirmed the data breach on Wednesday, which revealed the names and other personal information for thousands of people who were granted or denied concealed carry permits between 2011 and 2021.”

The Reload initially reported the breach. They said, “The California Department of Justice (DOJ) said it would contact everyone affected by the breach.” That horse-gone-barn-door-closed thing.

As noted by TTR, “While there’s always a chance this compromise is genuine, the serendipity of anti-gun rights California suffering such a ‘breach’ is, at least, eyebrow-raising.”

Gun owners have been right not to trust anti-gun rights activists, politicians, and governments and to resist these sorts of government databases. While, perhaps, making sense on paper—in an honest world—Democrat-run activists, politicians, and governments do not exist in an honest world.
