NYC Plaza Hotel Doorman Stops Man Who Punched 9-Year-Old Florida Girl in Head

In most law enforcement training academies, instructors teach that people with an innate protective instinct, such as police, firefighters, and military, are sheepdogs (the protectors). They react to danger by protecting the “sheep” (the peaceful) from the “wolves” (the predators).

According to FOX 5 News, visiting New York City from Miami (first, if you’re in Florida, don’t go to New York), a mother was pushing a carriage and walking with her 9-year-old daughter near Central Park in broad daylight.

According to the mother, a big man accosted them, punched her daughter in the left side of her head, and then stepped away. Then he moved aggressively toward the family again.

But, fortunately, in a story reported by the New York Post, it seems sheepdogs are found not only in public safety and military service. Neil Johnson, 60, a doorman at The Plaza Hotel, heard yelling and ran toward the potential danger.

He told the Post, “I saw the woman crying and they’re running away from this guy and he’s walking fast toward them. So got to do something. I got in between them and this crazy guy. And then another guy joined me, who apparently saw the whole thing happen. So we just made sure that this person couldn’t go.”

He said he told the man, “Don’t come another step…,” then he called 911. He said “the cops [NYPD] got here immediately. It was awesome!” He said they arrived and placed the suspect, identified as 27-year-old, Raheem Ramsarran, in handcuffs.

Other witnesses said Ramsarran was screaming at people to the point they were running to get away from him. The little girl’s mother declined transportation to the hospital. Police have not reported a motive for the attack.
