Poll Shows Americans Want New Political Faces; Not Biden or Trump

A Yahoo/YouGov poll taken on June 10th showed a plurality of voters did not want Biden or Trump to run again in 2024. By November 2024, Biden will almost be 82 years old, while Trump will be 78.

According to the poll, 64% of respondents do not want Biden to run for re-election. A mere 21% did want to see Biden run again and 15% were undecided if he should run in 2024. This number remained pretty stable across all demographics except African Americans. Only 49% of African American respondents felt that Biden should not run again.

An overwhelming 76% of independent voters did not want Biden to run in 2024. 40% of those who voted for Biden in 2020 did not want him to run again. 

When it comes to Trump, 55% thought he should not run again. 31% of voters thought he should run, while 14% were undecided. The responses remained mostly unchanged in every demographic except African Americans. 75% of African Americans polled did not want Trump to run in 2024. 

When polled about a head-to-head matchup, Trump edged out Biden 42%-39%. The main issue concerning voters was inflation at 37%.
