President Biden Reportedly Told Rev. Al Sharpton He Plans to Run for a Second Term

At a recent White House gathering, President Biden allegedly informed Rev. Al Sharpton that he intended to seek reelection in 2024. On September 2, Biden met with executives from prominent Black civil rights organizations and reportedly spoke with Sharpton, informing him of his plans to run again. According to a representative of Sharpton’s National Action Network who spoke to NBC News, Biden said to Sharpton: “I’m going to do it again … I’m going.” However, the White House has not confirmed the statement.

Biden has continuously refrained from publicly declaring if he plans to seek reelection. On Sunday, September 18, Biden stated in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” that it was “much too early” to decide whether or not to run for reelection. He added, “Look, my intention, as I said, that began with is that I would run again. But it’s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen.” The 79-year-old Biden has frequently stated his intention to run for reelection if he stays healthy.
