Since 2020, sports network ESPN has dived deep into the world of politics and social justice. The company’s motto used to be “stick to sports, ” but a new Project Veritas video revealed this is not the case with employees.
The ESPN studio operator Trevor Adams recorded several videos and audio clips of his conversation with several employees. Adams also leaked an email he sent to the head of ESPN which was flagged as a security threat. In the email, Adams detailed the experience of racism, harassment, and discrimination, as the key issues. Adams alleged that ESPN sent police to his home to investigate following his email.
Adams received support from his colleagues, who were happy he came forward to discuss the issues. Adams stated:
“A lot of people were cheering me on. A lot of people said, ‘We’re glad you sent this. We hope something comes of it. We don’t think it will, but we’re glad that finally someone spoke up.”
One of the videos showed reporter Alyssa Lang recounting her conversations with ESPN about having “too many white hosts.” Lang said:
“I know the comments that have been made to me at work and the conversations that have been had in front of me at work, like, I mean just blatantly racist s***…Just blatantly, like, complaining to me that we have three white hosts, and I’m like, ‘What do you want me- do you want me to leave?”
In the released video, Adams accuses a co-worker of treating him differently because he’s “Republican or a Trump supporter.”
