Republican Congresswoman Killed in Car Accident

Jackie Walorski, a Republican rep from Indiana was killed in a car wreck on Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred in Elkhart County. The Daily Wire reported, “A northbound passenger car traveled left of center and collided head on with a southbound vehicle.”

Walorski’s comm. director Emma Thompson and Zachary Potts with the St. Joseph County Republican Party also passed away. The driver of the vehicle that hit Walorski died as well. The investigation into the crash is ongoing and no other details have been released.

Kevin McCarthy tweeted a statement released by Walorski’s office: “Dean Swihart, Jackie’s husband, was just informed by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s office that Jackie was killed in a car accident this afternoon,” the statement said. “She has returned home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Walorski served on the House Ways and Means Committee and as a ranking member of the House Ethics Committee.
