Rudy Giuliani Ordered to Testify Before Grand Jury Regarding President Trump’s Efforts to Overturn Georgia’s Election Results

A New York judge has ordered Rudy Giuliani to appear before the Georgia special grand jury, which is hearing testimony regarding potential interference in the 2020 election by former President Donald Trump and others. The order came after Giuliani, who was Trump’s personal attorney, missed a July 13 hearing where he was set to challenge a subpoena for his testimony.

According to NBC News, the grand jury was convened by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to look into any “coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections.” Earlier this month, Giuliani was subpoenaed as a “material witness” and the subpoena said Giuliani made claims that “widespread voter fraud” had occurred in the state of Georgia in testimony before Georgia lawmakers.

The subpoena also stated that “There is evidence that [Giuliani’s] appearance and testimony at the hearing was part of a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.” Giuliani has been ordered to testify before the grand jury on August 9 “and on any such other dates as this court may order,” according to a document filed on Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court by Willis. Other members of Trump’s former legal team have also been called to testify by the special grand jury.

Additionally, a Fulton County judge ordered Sen. Lindsey Graham to testify before the grand jury on Aug. 2 about conversations he had with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and his staff about the 2020 election. Republican Rep. Jody Hice is also resisting a subpoena to appear before the grand jury after she voted to reject the state-certified election results. Court documents show that almost a dozen of Georgia’s presidential electors have been summoned to appear before the grand jury, with all 16 of the electors having been informed that they are the subject of Willis’ investigation.
