Sen. Cruz Wants Mask Mandates Over By July 4th Holiday

Even as the nation’s greatest display of freedom approaches, some Americans may not feel as free as they once did. The reason for this is because they believe the present government has been dangling freedom as a bargaining chip in exchange for the jab as if freedom was something that Americans never had.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz is championing for the American people once again by imploring the President to remove federal mask mandates and restrictions in airports and mass transit before the July 4 holiday.

Americans have been facing severe repercussions, especially within airlines, when it comes to mask-wearing policies. Many people have been kicked off airplanes for improper mask-wearing, some even escalating to a physical explosion of fists like the woman on a Southwest flight last month.

Senator Cruz himself faced backlash regarding mask-wearing on airplanes last summer and has been outspoken in his beliefs surrounding mask-wearing in general.

Despite current vaccination “freedom” given by the CDC, Americans ages 2 and older still must wear a face covering to fly regardless of their vaccination status.

Sen. Cruz took to Twitter to voice his and the concerns of many of his fellow Americans, “It’s long past time for Biden & the CDC to ‘follow the science’ and end this mask mandate for fully #COVID19 vaccinated individuals. Americans should be able to travel to celebrate Independence Day without having to follow an outdated and unnecessary mandate.”

While Sen. Cruz may not be perfect, he’s been a regular proponent of challenging legislation and mandates.

On Monday, he tweeted a follow up to his previous tweet, including a link to an article to support his view on mask removal during public travel, “Agreed. Biden’s CDC needs to “follow the science” and end its mask mandate for vaccinated Americans on airplanes and public transportation.”

His call to end the mask mandate wasn’t just a few tweets, either.

On June 26, the Senator filed a formal resolution, along with several fellow senators, Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).

The resolution urges the Biden administration’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to abolish the mask requirement for fully vaccinated people using public transportation in the United States, including airports, commercial flights, buses, and rail systems.

The resolution addresses the sacrifice Americans have made, like not traveling freely and seeing family and friends.

It also points out the hypocrisy of the CDC’s science that vaccinated individuals do not have to wear a mask under the same conditions when it’s not airline/public transport-related.

Cruz and his fellow senators addressed their belief that removing the mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals will help the economy and may even drive more people to receive the vaccine.

The resolution closes with this, “… That the Senate, encourages the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to review and update its guidance relating to mask wearing in confined places to clarify that individuals fully vaccinated against COVID–19 no longer need to wear a mask on public transportation networks throughout the United States, including at airports, onboard commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses, and on commuter bus and rail systems; and (2) believes the Transportation Security Administration should update its mask requirements, to be consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, to permit fully vaccinated individuals to travel on all transportation networks throughout the United States without wearing a mask.”
