St. Louis Prosecutor Won’t Charge Suspect for Allegedly Attempting to Carjack Cops

It’s no surprise there are so many George Soros-funded prosecutors in America today. But their radical prosecutorial activism can still take people by surprise. Take St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s declining to charge a suspect who allegedly attempted to carjack a police car with cops in it.

According to FOX News, at about 3 a.m., dispatchers sent officers to a reported “shots fired” call. As they were checking the area, “a man stepped in front of their car as it was moving….” Then, “the man stood next to the passenger’s window and pointed a gun” at the officers.

Then, it appeared the man realized the vehicle was a marked patrol SUV occupied by police officers. The man ran off, and the officers broadcasted the suspect’s description and direction of travel.

Other officers soon located the suspect in a nearby parking lot. They arrested the man and allegedly recovered a gun from him.

Police requested Gardner charge him with attempted carjacking, but she declined. Clarion News reported, “After initially declining to bring any charges, prosecutors filed a weapons charge against 27-year-old Allen Lee Robinson.”

Also, according to Clarion, Gardner said she “settled on the weapons charge and cast doubt on the accusations that the suspect attempted to carjack a police vehicle. Any suggestion that the evidence provided by SLMPD supports charge of robbery 1st/carjacking in this incident is an unfortunate and inaccurate characterization.” It seems, Gardner simply doesn’t believe the officers’ account.

The officers were there at the scene and said they saw the suspect point the gun at them. Gardner was not at the scene and the suspect did not point a gun at her. Yet, she gives the benefit of the doubt to the suspect, not the cops.

The suspect is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on previous, unrelated charges, “including domestic assault, violating an order of protection and first-degree property damage.”

Gardner gained infamy when, as the Washington Free Beacon’s headline explained, “Prosecutors [Gardner] Drop Trespassing Charges Against BLM Crowd, Indict [Mark and Patricia] McCloskeys.” The McCloskeys had armed themselves in self-defense against a mob.
