Governor Abbott officially invited Elon Musk to bring Twitter HQ to Texas from California. Abbott extended the invitation on Monday evening after Musk officially purchased Twitter. Musk’s SpaceX, Boring, and Tesla already have headquarters in Texas.
“Bring Twitter to Texas to join Tesla, SpaceX & the Boring company.”
Abbott highlighted Texa’s business-friendly climate, noting the state was #1 in lowest operating expenses. Texas added more than 30,100 new jobs in March and 152,200 jobs in 2022.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem also invited Musk to take Twitter to South Dakota. She wrote, “If Twitter is in need of a new HQ, South Dakota is open for business.”
Twitter’s headquarters is currently located in Northern California. California Governor Gavin Newsom has not yet publically commented on Musk’s purchase of Twitter.
A spokesperson for Newsom said, “Even after Elon Musk announced Tesla’s move to Texas, they expanded in California. And Elon has started all of his businesses in California, presumably because he knows this is where innovation and talent lives. … Governor Abbott should focus on the people and business whose employees feel threatened, attacked and intimidated by his misogynistic and anti-LGBTQ agenda.”
