U.S. House Passes Anti-Gun Legislation, in Bid to Usurp Rights and Gain Power

On Wednesday, CNBC reported, along with five Republicans, House Democrats passed 228 to 199 an anti-gun rights bill. The bill would primarily raise the age to purchase certain firearms to 21 from 18.

The so-called Protecting our Kids Act would also ban “large-capacity” (made-up term) magazines. Standard-capacity, designed for specific firearms, magazines often exceed 10 rounds.

The bill also implements “proper gun storage” rules. This often means rendering guns kept for self-defense largely useless in emergencies.

Regarding the age issue, people are using a false equivalence age argument.

Democrats believe 5-year-old kids should be able to “choose” their genders, and 16-year-olds should be able to vote, but people must be 21 to buy any gun. Democrats also point out we don’t let young people drive, get tattoos, or drink alcohol until they reach certain ages.

But bellying up to the bar to order a frosty mug of beer is not a constitutionally protected natural right. Neither is getting a tattoo, driving, or “choosing one’s gender.”

The Constitution is clear about keeping and bearing arms. Voting to take away the God-given right to self-defense for 18-, 19-, and 20-year-olds should not be done so frivolously.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) recently appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show and made the point. He would not vote to take constitutional rights away from the 99.7 percent of 18 to 20-year-old law-abiding Americans because of the violent behavior of the .3 percent who use guns illegally.

The anti-gun left wants people to believe that simply having a “scary-looking” gun somehow turns normal people into homicidal maniacs. Instead, think about a 20-year-old woman—for the left, let’s make her a gay, BIPOC woman—even better, maybe a single mom, who works late and lives in a sketchy neighborhood.

Why should Democrats infringe on her right to defend herself—her child—because it makes them feel better about an anti-gun myth they created about a thing (gun) they know nothing about?

The House also just passed a “red flag” law. Anyone who thinks they can trust anti-gun Democrats with a law designed to confiscate guns (for whatever reason) is foolish.
