Mayra Flores, Texas’s newly elected Gop congresswoman, accused Nancy Pelosi of shoving her daughter during a photo op. Flores was sworn in on Tuesday, June 21, but the video in question wasn’t seen on social media until the weekend.
The video appears to show Pelosi elbowing Flore’s young daughter when photographers were attempting to get a photo. Flores tweeted:
“No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!! I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her,” she said. “She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen.”
Based on the footage, it’s unclear if Pelosi’s arm actually touched the girl, but commenters were quick to comment on the interaction.
Conservative tv host Benny Johnson wrote, “Nancy Pelosi ELBOWS the little daughter of new GOP Congresswoman Mayra Flores — what a witch.”
Pelosi’s rep did not respond to a request for comment.
