History is being made in Virginia as Republicans deliver wins for the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the state’s Attorney General. Unlike when Kamala Harris was sworn in as Vice President and painted on every magazine cover in the nation, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s first black woman to ever be elected to office through a statewide election is largely ignored by mainstream media.
Lt. Gov. elects Winsome Sears, a Jamaican-born immigrant who loves America so much that she offered to die for her new country when joining the United States Marine Corps. Sears married fellow Marine Terence Sears, and the two had two girls. During her speech, she thanked the voters and her family for their support in getting her into the office of Lieutenant Governor to the crowd screaming, “Winsome! Winsome! Winsome!”

I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream,” Lt. Gov. elect Sears said. “When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me. I was willing to die for this country.” Sears led the supportive crowd in a U-S-A chant soaking in the atmosphere.
“I say to you that there are some who want to divide us, and we must not let that happen,” she said.
“They would like us to believe that we are back in 1963 when my father came. We can live where we want. We can eat where we want. We own the water fountains. We have had a black President elected not once but twice, and here I am living proof.”
“In case you haven’t noticed, I am black. And I have been black all my life, but that’s not what this is about,” Sears said. “What we are going to do now is be about the business of the Commonwealth.”
“We have things to tend to,” Sears continues.
Lt. Gov. elect Sears said Gov. elect Youngkin has a full schedule to complete starting on day one of their terms. Sears said the plan would get Virginia to fund HBCUs fully, create safer communities, and give Virginia children a good education.
