“It’s not about freedom or choice,” said the president during a press conference on Thursday.
Americans are fuming after President Biden’s speech announcing his plans to mandate Covid-19 vaccines for millions. He stated that he asked the Department of Labor to issue an emergency rule that private business owners with 100 or more employees must vaccinate every employee or produce a negative coronavirus test result weekly.
“This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Biden claims. A sentiment he has spewed before in trying to get vaccine-hesitant people to comply. He continues to say that despite numerous ways the administration has made the vaccine available, there are still “nearly 80 million Americans who have failed to get the shot.” He also blames elected officials for undermining the vaccine instead of encouraging people.
The speech gets worse as he implies that vaccinated people are “doing the right thing.” After bashing the unvaccinated for “overcrowding the hospitals,” keeping other people from receiving the care they need, and killing others, he drops the bomb many saw coming long before.
“The bottom line, we are going to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated co-workers. We’re going to reduce the spread of Covid-19 by increasing the share of the workforce that is vaccinated in businesses all across America.”
He also stated that vaccinations are required amongst employees working in health care facilities that receive Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement, impacting around 7 million people that work at 50,000 providers.
His reasoning? “Because I have that authority.” And he admits he will use that authority to require the mandate to expand hospital workers or any other type of medical facility.

But it doesn’t stop there.
Biden also announced an executive order that will force “all executive branch federal employees” to get the vaccine. A second executive order will extend to contractors and require them to be vaccinated to complete federally contracted jobs.
Federal employees had previously been allowed to test regularly for coronavirus instead, but the new executive orders will change all of that.
The White House has repeatedly said they will not require a federal vaccine passport but continues to find ways to increase vaccination rates.
The order will require that the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Indian Health Service, and the National Institute of Health follow through and complete the implementation of their previously announced vaccination requirements covering 2.5 million people.
In July, the VA became the first federal agency to require vaccination for their client-facing employees.
The White House has long praised large corporations that compel employees to be vaccinated, saying that the federal government should also serve as a model for other businesses in their vaccine mandates.
Surprisingly, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will be exempt from the mandate.
According to the Washington Post, an unnamed official said that the “USPS has a separate statutory scheme and is traditionally independent of federal personnel actions like this, though postal workers would be strongly encouraged to comply with the mandate.”
The American Postal Workers Union issued a statement making it clear that the federal government does not have the authority to make such a mandate.
“While the APWU leadership continues to encourage postal workers to voluntarily get vaccinated, it is not the role of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for the employees we represent,” said the union in a statement.
The orders may not stick as others are already calling to strike it down due to its unconstitutional nature. Presidents are not able to enact laws through executive orders.
TheNewAmerican.com explains it beautifully. The “U.S. Constitution is very clear about laws being enacted by Congress and a presidential signature or a congressional two-thirds override of a presidential veto after Congress has voted its approval.”
