WATCH: Fathers of Fallen Service Men Refuse to Meet with Biden; Say Their Sons Were Disrespected

Gold Star Dads -Mark Schmitz and Darin Hoover – shared what they experienced at the Dover Air Force Base while Joe Biden was there to conduct the dignified transfer of their sons.

The two Marines were among the 13 service members (11 Marines, 1 Navy corpsman, and an Army soldier) killed on the August 26 bombing outside Kabul’s Abbey Gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Mark Schmitz appeared alongside Darin Hoover on Fox’s Sean Hannity. Mr. Schmitz spoke about the death of his son, Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz and the pain it caused to meet with Joe Biden after the dignified transfer. He told Fox that his meeting with Joe Biden “didn’t go well.” Mr. Schmitz said instead of comforting their family, Joe Biden “talked a bit more about his own son than he did my son, and that didn’t sit well with me.”

Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, explained to Sean Hannity that his family decided upfront that they would not speak with Joe Biden after the ceremony at Dover Air Force Base.

“We said, ‘Absolutely not.’ We didn’t want to deal with him. We didn’t want him anywhere near us. We as a family decided that was the way it was going to be,” Hoover explained.

According to Hoover and Schmitz, the controversy surrounding Joe Biden checking his watch was even worse in person.

Hoover told Sean Hannity that Biden didn’t just check his watch one time during the ceremony. “They would release the salute, and he looked down at his watch on every last one. All 13, he looked down at his watch,” Hoover said.

Mark Schmitz said he saw the same thing and even leaned down to his wife after only four of the caskets had been removed and said, “I swear to God if he checks his watch one more time…”

“I couldn’t look at him anymore after that, just considering, especially, the time and why we were there. I found it to be the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever seen,” Schmitz said.

The sentiments are echoed in the Daily Beast by another Gold Star dad, Steve Nikoui. He told the publication that his son Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui “loved what he was doing. He always wanted to be a Marine.”

“They sent my son over there as a paper pusher and then had the Taliban outside providing security. I blame my own military leaders. Biden turned his back on him. That’s it,” Nikoui said.
