According to authorities, a Minneapolis woman was killed and 3 others were injured late Sunday evening after a car drove into a group of protesters.
Police monitored a protest near West Lake Street and Girard Avenue South around 11:39 pm when officers saw on a camera a car drove east on Lake Street and into the crowd. According to a family member who was an eyewitness, an SUV hit a parked vehicle that was shielding protesters, and that car was pushed into the crowd killing 31-year-old Deona Knajdek.
The Minneapolis Police Department released a statement immediately after the incident occurred saying that the suspect was in custody in Hennepin County Jail on probable cause of Criminal Vehicular Homicide, driving on a canceled license, and giving false information to police.
Deona Knajdek, 31, of Minneapolis was the protester killed last night in Uptown, according to her brother Garrett Knajdek.

Knajdek and several other protesters gathered in the area to protest Winston Smith’s death. Smith was shot and killed after brandishing a weapon at police.
According to reports, on June 3, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force shot Smith, who was wanted for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The shooting took place shortly after 2 pm on Thursday.
Although the shooting took place a few days ago, tensions are still high throughout Minneapolis, and the local police departments are having trouble getting things under control.
This is a developing story.
