Last week, six people were tragically killed after being involved in a car accident outside of Los Angeles. The driver of the car that caused the wreck is a traveling nurse from Houston, Texas. Nicole Lorraine Linton was driving her Mercedes-Benz when she sped through a red light and caused a massive eight-car crash.
California Highway Patrol originally thought Linton was driving around 50mph. Now, it’s estimated that she was driving as fast as 90mph.
Linton has been charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular homicide. Tragically, an entire family, including an unborn child and an infant were killed in the wreck. Two other people were killed, though their identities have not been released. Linton broke her wrist and ankle in the crash.
Linton has been involved in 13 other car crashes, some in California and some in other places. In 2020 she was involved in a wreck that injured at least one person and left two cars totaled. She does not have a California license and it is unknown if she has a license from another state.
Her attorney stated, “She has a lengthy history of “documented, profound mental health issues.” LA’s district attorney, George Gascón does not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. Linton’s bail has been set at $9 million. If convicted, she is sentenced to 90 years in prison.
California law prohibits the prosecutor from charging her with the death of an unborn child.
