California Governor Newsom’s In-Laws Reportedly Donated to Ron DeSantis

As the feud between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom heats up ahead of a potential battle in 2024 for the presidency, Newsom’s in-laws have reportedly financially supported the Florida Republican.

According to records obtained by Fox News, the Friends of Ron DeSantis political action group received a $5,000 donation from the Siebel Family Revocable Trust in April. The trust is operated by the parents of Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel, Kenneth F. Siebel Jr., and Judith A. Siebel.

Kenneth Siebel has contributed to Republicans in the past, including Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and Tom Cotton of Arkansas. However, the donation to Desantis is notable because Newsom is seen as a strong Democratic candidate if Joe Biden decides not to run again in 2024.

Some Republican voters at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit stated that Newsom would be the hardest Democrat to defeat in 2024. Newsom made headlines recently for running advertisements in Florida warning that “freedom is under attack” under DeSantis and urging citizens to move to California. In response to the ad, DeSantis claimed that California license plates were common in Florida because so many people were fleeing the state.
