White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby recently announced U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Beijing next week for a meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping. Reuters reports, during his February 5-6 visit, Blinken will address Russia’s conflict in Ukraine with Chinese officials.
U.S.-China relations have been strained over matters such as security, trade, Taiwan, COVID-19 response, and regional dominance in the Asia Pacific. The U.S. has also warned China of consequences if they provide weapons to Russia for use against Ukraine.
