A dad has ensured his daughter’s safety when her ex-boyfriend broke down the front door to their house on Sunday in Sidney, Ohio.
Despite issuing warnings to the intruder, the father ultimately fired three shots and killed James Douglas Rayl, 22, as he broke down the door.
The Ring security doorbell recorded what happened as Rayl first came to the door. The father tells him to leave and that he also has a gun. Rayl ignored the threat and thrust his shoulder into the door, succeeding after several attempts.
The father was ready and true to his word. He fired three shots, but it is unknown how many hit the intruder. Rayl then stumbled back, collapsed by the garage, and died on the scene.
The daughter called 911, “He broke through the door, and my dad shot at him,” and “Was he trying to kill me?”
The case is set to be heard before the next county grand jury.
