NYC Man Who Smashed Up McDonald’s with Ax Arrested and Released Again

The New York man who destroyed a Manhattan McDonald’s with an ax has been caught again, this time for allegedly spray-painting graffiti in Brooklyn and stealing a high-end bike to attempt to elude police. According to the New York Post, Michael Palacios was approached by police at around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday after he was seen spray-painting graffiti.

The 31-year-old messenger reportedly took off on a bicycle in front of a coffee shop and attempted to ride away before being apprehended and found to be possessing graffiti tools. Police also accused Palacios of being responsible for a June graffiti incident at a subway station in Queens. The bike, valued at approximately $3,500, was damaged in the chase.

He has been charged with grand larceny, two counts of criminal mischief, possession of stolen goods, creating graffiti, and possessing graffiti tools. He was also charged with producing graffiti and possessing graffiti tools concerning the June incident. He was released without bail on Monday.

In September, Palacios was caught on camera smashing up a crowded fast-food restaurant with an ax during a dispute with other customers. Following the restaurant rampage, Palacios said he was not “unhinged” and was just defending himself. He explained, “It’s not luck that they didn’t get chopped up. I didn’t chop them up because I didn’t want to.”
