Donald Trump Announces Run for Second Term as President

Former President Donald Trump

According to FOX News, “Former President Donald Trump announced he is running for the 2024 Republican nomination for president, seeking to stage a dramatic return to the White House after having lost his bid for re-election to Joe Biden in 2020. Trump, a Republican and the leader of the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement, announced his third presidential bid on Tuesday during a speech at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, home after having teased a bid since leaving office in 2021.”

He said, “In order to make America great and glorious again. I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

Interactive Polls tweeted, “Donald Trump files FEC paperwork to run for President of the United States in 2024.”

Many people, including President Trump, believe he left his job at the White House prematurely for many reasons that are well known. And, while there is still genuine excitement, Trump’s announcement was blunted for many supporters by recent disparaging comments he made about popular fellow conservatives like Gov. Ron DeSantis, Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Lt. Gov. Winsom Sears, and podcaster and co-founder of Blexit (with TTR founder Brandon Tatum), Candace Owens

The ill-timed comments might (might) be acceptable against actual Republican primary opponents, but at this early point, many supporters see Trump’s targets as some of his most valuable allies. Knowing Trump, does anyone think he truly believes DeSantis is “average?” Prudently, during the former President’s announcement, he stuck to the extraordinary job he did as president, limiting himself to primarily commenting on his immensely successful policies.

Another positive was Trump emphasized we, saying, “We have to get out of this ditch. And once we’re out, you’ll see things that nobody imagined for any country. It’s called the United States of America. And it’s an incredible place.”

With DeSantis leading in some polls, it remains to be seen whether Trump can reignite his massive support base. But if anyone can do it, its Donald J. Trump.
