Google Attempts to Debunk Study Finding Left Bias During 2022 Election

Big Tech leftist bias is bad enough. But Google’s attempt to obscure that bias is more insidious. Doesn’t it function as an admission of their complicity in election meddling?

According to The Daily Signal’s Tyler O’Neil, “Google News heavily skewed in favor of left-leaning media outlets—both in the news articles featured on its homepage and in the search results for specific topics—in five of the days leading up to the 2022 midterm elections, according to an AllSides study Google criticized as ‘deeply flawed’ in comments to The Daily Signal.”

This isn’t about a study showing Google’s bias. That’s obvious. It’s about Google’s attempt to debunk the study, which is tacit proof it’s valid. Slate also added to its validity by calling the study “flimsy” and “bogus.”

AllSides Director of Marketing Julie Mastrine says, “When people cannot access the full range of views on political and societal issues, they are subject to partisan manipulation and cannot truly decide for themselves.”

Google is clearly supporting the Party in power that declares its speech “science” or “truth” and the other Party’s (hate) speech “misinformation” and “lies,” which is not compatible with a constitutional republic.

Google says people haven’t seen the bias they know they’ve seen. The leftist lean is so endemic that along with Google Maps, Google Earth, and Google Ads they may as well add Google Bias.

Also, “Google claimed the study ‘cherry-picked a few topics’ for a ‘brief period of time,’ presenting a ‘misleading picture of Google News.’”

But the “brief period…” was the few days before the 2022 election. Is Google saying it was easy for AllSides to find bias during an election but wouldn’t at other times?

“The study found that 61% of media outlets on Google News’ homepage skewed to the Left—17% Left and 44% lean Left—while 25% hewed to the center, and only 3% had a conservative bias—3% Right, 0% lean Right.”

Google didn‘t respond to O‘Neil when asked if there may have been “unintentional bias,” which was “generally reliable,” but presented “biased news, especially after serious hits to the legacy media narratives on Hunter Biden’s laptop and the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a lab.”
