ICE: Money Running Out to Defend Against Biden Border Onslaught

Over 100 suspected illegal migrants Rio Grande Valley

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” three sources told Axios, “will run out of money before October unless the Department of Homeland Security pulls millions of dollars from other programs, as the surge of migrants at the border drives up costs….”

This is because of the self-inflicted border blunder Joe Biden is engaged in, allowing people to surge across a virtually open southern border. Axios also reported, “under President Biden, it’s poised to spend more taxpayer funds than ever as it closes an estimated $345 million shortfall for the current fiscal year.”

Part of the shortfall, $100 million would come from the U.S. Coast Guard’s budget. Wouldn’t Americans be right to wonder what protections will fall through the cracks after “defunding” the Coast Guard? Instead, shouldn’t the money come from DOD programs that teach nonsense like “gender pronouns” to military recruits?

The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) reported that John Freere, former ICE Chief of Staff told them, “Instead of seeking enforcement resources, the Biden administration is putting more money into so-called Alternatives to Detention, but more specifically into what they call ‘case management’ and ‘wraparound services’ which means endless taxpayer handouts for illegal aliens.”

Yanking $100 million from the Coast Guard to pay benefits for people who’ve entered the U.S. illegally is an insult to American taxpayers.

According to Sara Carter, Freere also said, “The immigration courts will inevitably determine that many of these asylum claims are phony, and ICE simply doesn’t have the resources to carry out the forthcoming court-ordered removals.”

Starting after Biden entered the White House, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, Americans have seen almost three million illegal immigrants “stream across the southern border….” Last May saw the largest increase at 239,416 illegal immigrant encounters with CBP agents, which “set a DHS record.”

Freere said ICE budgets were strained even before “Biden opened the borders.” He also noted the time lag between authorization to hire new ICE and CBP personnel, get them trained, and then deployed along the border. Freere adds, “[T]he new Congress will need to get that going as quickly as possible.”
