Partisan Jan. 6 House Committee Refers Charges Against Trump to DOJ

As if Americans needed more reasons to distrust our nation’s traditional institutions, the bogus House Jan. 6 committee has once again shredded the U.S. Constitution. The committee has made criminal referrals to the DOJ, including for President Donald Trump. Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz told John Solomon at Just the News, No Noise, “In my view, it’s clearly unconstitutional.” The short-duration riot was ugly, but calling it an insurrection made awarding “gaslighting” Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year possible.

National Review reported, “The January 6 committee on Monday referred former president Donald Trump to the Department of Justice for prosecution on four charges related to his conduct leading up to and during the riot that occurred in the Capitol in the wake of his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.”

NR detailed, “The referrals include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., making a false statement, and inciting an insurrection, the last of which could disqualify Trump from holding public office in the future.”

Radio host Dan Bongino asked how can they charge President Donald Trump with “insurrection” when not a single Jan. 6 defendant was charged with insurrection?

The AP attempted a last-ditch effort to infuse the highly partisan committee with some legitimacy. “The panel, which will dissolve on Jan. 3 with the new Republican-led House, has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, held 10 well-watched public hearings and collected more than a million documents since it launched in July 2021.” Well-watched

When you have a congressional committee staffed only by Trump-haters, including Democrats Bennie Thompson and Jamie Raskin and outgoing Republicans Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, which does something as blatant as excluding exculpatory public comments made by President Trump to “demonstrate peacefully and patriotically,” Americans know they had no intention of allowing any integrity or transparency into their inquisition.

It’s pathetic that a committee comprised of lawyers could torture the law in such a public way while history records every bit of it.
