United States Capitol Police have reported this morning that they have identified and arrested the suspect who surrendered after claiming to have set a bomb near the Congressional Library in Washington D.C. yesterday.
Floyd Ray Roseberry, 49, of Grover, North Carolina, has been identified as the suspect by U.S. Capitol Police. However, reports have confirmed that the man suspected of driving his pickup truck onto the sidewalk was found with only bomb materials and not a completed bomb.
U.S. Capitol Police on Thursday issued the statement via Twitter, along with the assistance of the Washington Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives Department, that both departments were responding to an “active bomb threat investigation.”

According to the U.S. Capitol Police, multiple buildings in the area were evacuated on Thursday as officials responded to the bomb threat.
U.S. Chief of Police Capitol Tom Manger has named the suspect in a short press briefing about 2:30 pm and has claimed that he surrendered without any incident. Manger said the police did not know at the press conference whether Roseberry’s truck indeed had explosives and would take hours to clean the site. Manger said an initial check of the Roseberry vehicle revealed “related” objects, including a propane tank.
D.C. police announced just after 4:30 pm that the vehicle had been “cleared” and that all traffic restrictions surrounding the Capitol, including those extending into the residential neighborhood east of the U.S. Capitol Complex, would be removed. The Capitol South station was reopened shortly after 5:15 pm.
After clearing Roseberry’s truck, police did not reveal what, if anything more, they discovered.
Media outlets are already jumping on the fact that Roseberry was a Trump supporter and have fueled a narrative that still has several details still missing from official reports.
We will continue to update when more information becomes available.
